Both versions keep recordings local and skip the account step. The difference is workflow: open a tab for quick captures, install the app when you record often or need global shortcuts.

Use the web recorder when

  • β€’You need a one-off capture without installing anything.
  • β€’You are on a machine where you cannot install apps.
  • β€’You want recordings to stay in that browser's library on that device.

Use the desktop app when

  • β€’You want global hotkeys from any app.
  • β€’You prefer files saved to ~/Movies/Peacae or Videos\Peacae.
  • β€’You record frequently and want a native menu-bar workflow.

Libraries do not sync between web and desktop β€” download or move files manually if you need them in both places.
